To prepare a 2mm method pellets mix perfectly, you must ensure the pellets absorb enough water to stick to your method feeder during a power cast, yet remain loose enough to break down rapidly on the lake bed. Over-soaking creates a sticky mush that will not release, while under-soaking leaves them too hard to mould.
The 4-Step Preparation Method
- Submerge: Place your 2mm pellets into a bait tub or pellet strainer and fully cover them with water.
- Soak: Leave the pellets completely submerged for exactly 2 minutes. Use a stopwatch for accuracy.
- Drain: Pour off all excess water immediately. If using a bait tub, put the lid on and shake it firmly to distribute the remaining moisture evenly.
- Rest: Let the pellets stand for 15 to 20 minutes. They will absorb the residual moisture, swell in size, and become soft and sticky.
Pro Mixing & Maintenance Tips
- The 50/50 Blend: For optimal results, mix two different pellet types (e.g., 50% sweet coarse pellets and 50% fishmeal/marine pellets) to add visual and scent contrast.
- Boost Attraction: Add liquid additives or sweet syrups to your soaking water to infuse the core of the pellet with flavor.
- Prevent Drying: Wind and sun will dry out your mix on the peg. Keep a water atomiser spray handy, or regularly run a damp hand through the tub to maintain the stickiness.
- Fixing No-Stick Pellets: If your pellets are too dry or lack binder, dust them with a light sprinkle of Horlicks powder or groundbait to quickly restore their binding properties
For big orders over 5kg we can mix them in 4.5mm-6mm-8mm!
